Nuclear BWXT Los Alamos (N3B) manages the 10-year, $2.1 billion Los
Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract for the U.S. Department of Energy,
Office of Environmental Management, and Los Alamos Field Office.
N3B is a limited liability company owned by HII Nuclear Inc. and
BWX Technologies, joined by our critical subcontractors Longenecker
and Associates and Tech2 Solutions. N3B brings operational
discipline, proven approaches and predictable results to the Los
Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract. Position Location: This position is
located in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Los Alamos is a tight-knit
mountain community that consistently ranks as one of

spot for outdoor enthusiasts as it has more than 120 hiking and
biking trails, and residents enjoy easy access to the Pajarito

retirees. Position Summary N3B is seeking a Director within the
Environmental Remediation Program with excellent communication
skills, a professional manner, and multi-tasking ability to join
N3B’s Environmental Remediation team. The successful candidate will
be a forward thinking manager with the ability to interact with all
levels of management, subject matter experts, and the workforce on
a variety of technical and programmatic issues. While working to
achieve N3B LLCC objectives, the Water Program Director will ensure
all activities and operations are performed in a safe and
deliberate manner; will maintain required safety, security and
operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance;
and make safety, security and quality an integral part of every
task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if
continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security. The position
requires both strategic planning and project coordination to ensure
consistent performance of a broad work scope. This position reports
to the Program Manager of Environmental Remediation. Essential
Duties/Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to): The
Director of N3B Water Program is responsible for overseeing
technical execution by and supporting subcontract management of the
Water Program Critical Subcontractor. Supports strategic direction
for Water Program in alignment with N3B plans established by
executive leadership. Provides N3B oversight within the terms of
the subcontract in coordination with the Subcontract Technical
Representative and the Subcontract Administrator. Ensures
appropriate N3B integration of Critical Subcontractor interactions
with regulators and the client. Responsible for reviews of work
plans, schedules, costs, and tracking technical performance of N3B
Critical Subcontractor’s execution of Water Program scope. Advises
management of the status of work in progress, disruptions that
affect schedules and costs. Controls budget for program and project
management codes and encourages efficient execution and reasonable
costs from the Critical Subcontractor. Ensures appropriate change
control documentation for Water Program activities. Promotes
consistency in execution of work across the ER Program. Responsible
for documenting Critical Subcontractor performance and identifying
opportunities for improvement. Trains and mentors more junior
staff. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
Proven ability to manage contracts for performance of broad work
scope related to environmental remediation and water programs.
Proven ability to provide senior leadership for execution of
subcontracted Water Program work. Expert knowledge and proven
ability to develop and apply highly advanced principles, concepts
and techniques management involving environmental services,
hazardous waste management services, remediation services, and/or
ecological services Advanced project management skills in the areas
of leadership, communication, scheduling, risk management and
negotiation. Experience with the aspects of the Water Program work
scope including: Storm Water Sampling, Groundwater Sampling,
Groundwater Treatments Systems, Well Drilling, Well Maintenance,
and Storm Water Controls. Skill and ability to perform critical
strategic tasks and to interpret broad strategic requirements and
develop and execute plans to satisfy them. Experience communicating
effectively at the highest levels, including external audiences.
Demonstrated experience effectively overseeing operational
activities for programs and projects in the organization.
Experience overseeing and meeting contractual obligations.
Experience working within the Department of Energy (DOE)
environment, including familiarity with DOE policies, programs and
procedures and systems, program management and EVMS. Viewed as an
expert within a specialty and as highly competent within the broad
discipline, both internally and externally. Level of language
skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning
ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential
functions of the job. Education and Experience Required: Bachelors’
degree in a technical discipline (Environmental or Civil
Engineering, Environmental Geology, Geochemistry/Hydrology, or
other applicable discipline). At least 14 years of experience is
necessary. Experience should include a minimum of 6 years' of
management responsibility. This position requires experience
working with the DOE; proven cost and schedule experience; and
experience in procuring and managing subcontractors. Business
Associations: Interacts with senior management, and others
concerning matters of significance to the company. Conducts
business and technical briefings for senior and top management and
for external representatives. Interacts regularly with the Critical
Subcontractor at all levels. Impacts Decisions have a serious
impact on the overall success or failure on area of accountability.
Erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause critical delays or
modifications to company projects or operations causing substantial
expenditure of time, human resources, and funds. Working Conditions
and Physical Requirements (Sedentary Work): Sedentary work involves
lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting
or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools.
Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting,
a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in
carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing
are required occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.
