Type of Opportunity: Full Time FTE: 1.000000 Exempt: No Work Schedule: Varied Days and Hours As a certified surgical technician, you give your all in the operating room (OR). You are organized and precise. You stay cool in high pressure situations. You are team oriented and have a strong work ethic. Youre great at what you do, but you want to be part of something even greater. Presbyterian Healthcare Services is expanding its team of surgical techs. As a surgical technician, you will provide patient care under the direction of the registered nurse (RN) and assist with a variety of cases, including general surgery, urology, pediatrics, cardiovascular/thoracic, neurology, ENT, gastrointestinal, orthopedics, neonates, and skeletal/muscular conditions and diseases. Duties include direct patient care and observation, scrubbing and assisting the surgeon at the operative field, surgical room turnover between cases, and consistent collaboration with the RN in clinical decision making. Responsibilities *Evaluates and coordinates activities during surgical procedures by anticipating surgeons needs and necessary supplies. *Scrub In and assist surgeons with various types of surgical procedures by maintaining current knowledge of various procedures and supplies. *Adheres to proper surgical procedures of aseptic technique and safety in the use of instruments and equipment. *Maintains an accurate count of sponges, needles, and instruments. Gathers supplies and instruments and assemble before procedures. *Autoclaves instrument trays as required. *Ensures that specimens are correctly handled and routed to the proper source. *Maintains current knowledge of anatomy/physiology and medications used intraoperatively. *Keeps current with developments in the field through participation in seminars, workshops and publications. *Assists in maintaining the quality assessment program developed for the department. Qualifications Surgical Tech I

  • High School Diploma or GED + 2 or more years of on-the-job surgical tech experience in a hospital or outpatient operating room OR
    • Graduate of surgical technician certification program from an accredited school or training program Surgical Tech II Meets above requirements, plus:
      • NBSTA Certified Surgical Tech (CST) or NCCT Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C)
      • May substitute 5+ years of experience and skillset to perform all specialties in lieu of certification. Qualifications:
        • BLS required within 90 days of hire
        • Familiarity with all surgical instruments and equipment.
