Provide specialized nursing care in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit environment, delivering direct, patient-centered care to critically ill pediatric patients. The role involves assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of patient care, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and standards. Nurses will work with patient ratios ranging from 1:1 to 1:3, depending on patient status, and will be responsible for supervising Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and non-licensed assistive personnel. Key Responsibilities: Deliver direct nursing care to assigned patients, utilizing the nursing process to ensure safety and effectiveness. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, documenting all actions according to policy. Collaborate with patients, families, and the healthcare team to coordinate comprehensive care plans. Identify and address patient and family education and discharge needs throughout care. Provide clinical supervision to LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel. Complete required competency testing and education specific to patient population, procedures, and protocols. Float between departments or local locations within a 20-mile radius as needed. Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) license with Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience. Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills in pediatric critical care. Ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams. Experience supervising support staff. Competency in medication administration and documentation in ICU settings.
