Job Description Cardiothoracic Surgeon (Outpatient) Position -
Albuquerque, New Mexico Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico Overview:

for medical professionals to thrive. Major Duties of the Position:
Provide high-quality cardiothoracic surgical services in our
progressive, innovative health care system for the veteran
outpatient population. Deliver patient-centered diagnostic and
therapeutic cardiothoracic surgical care in an outpatient setting.
Develop and implement individualized care plans to address the
specific cardiothoracic surgical needs of patients. Perform and
interpret various cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including
coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), heart valve surgery, lung
resections, and other related surgeries. Collaborate with other
specialists to provide comprehensive cardiothoracic care, including
cases that may require multidisciplinary management. Teach and
mentor medical students, residents, and fellows, contributing to
educational development programs affiliated with the University of
New Mexico, School of Medicine. Demonstrate a strong commitment to
patient care, teaching, and research, and be eligible for a faculty
appointment in the Department of Surgery at the University of New
Mexico. Work with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care
for outpatient cardiothoracic surgery patients. VA Offers a

Service agreement required. Compensation and Benefits: Pay:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary
increases Paid Time Off: 50–55 days of paid time off per year (26
days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal
holidays per year and possible 5-day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and
federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance:

full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME:
