Job Description:
This is an apprentice level position. Working under the
supervision of the Manufacturing Lead and/or the Manufacturing
Supervisor, the General Machinist II sets up and operates machine
tools and fits and assembles parts to make or repair metal parts,
mechanisms, tools or machines. The General Machinist II works to
the dimensions and tolerance of the piece to be machined and the
sequence of operations and machines required by studying
specifications such as blueprints, sketches, damaged parts or a
description of parts. The General Machinist II plans and executes
assignments using machine tools including boring tools, calipers,
drilling machines, grinding machines, lathes, milling cutters, and
workshop presses.
