What Your Job Will Be Like:We are seeking a Year Round -
Technical Undergraduate Intern to join our dynamic team! On any
given day, you may be called on to:
- Work alongside a multidisciplinary team including interns,
senior engineers and staff from both Sandia National Labs and other
national labs.
- Work with dynamic team supporting data collection for a diverse
set of tests across Sandia and in partnership with external test
ranges in the design, setup, execution, and analysis of large and
small scale tests that are conducted to support nuclear weapons
development and qualification missions as well as strategic
partnership (non-DOE) programs every year.
- Collaborate with multiple team members in the areas of
experimental measurements and diagnostics.
- Assist with large and small scale test setup and data
collection activities at Sandia's world-class test facilities
(outdoor and indoor), including the Aerial Cable Facility, the
Superfuge, Vibration & Mechanical Shock Labs, Drop Towers, Thermal
Test Complex, Sled Track Facility, Explosive Pads, the
High-Altitude Chamber, and different test sites across the
country.
- Design and Develop various test fixtures using SolidWorks.
- Communicate research results effectively through written, oral,
and other creative media methods to Sandia project lead. Salary

earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay

.Qualifications We Require:You bring the confidence and skills to
be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:
- Currently attending and enrolled full time in a related
accredited undergraduate program
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
- Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic
year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which
requires U.S. citizenshipNote: If you have not earned a HS diploma
or equivalent, please apply to a high school intern
position.Qualifications We Desire:
- Experience with mechanical and electronic systems
- Demonstrated experience using MS Office and excellent written
and oral communication skills
- Experience with SolidWorks Software and Computer Aided
Design
- Experience in test operation and design
- Experience working with various 3D printing equipment
- Experience with chassis design and fabrication Posting

Department is responsible for collecting and analyzing the data
that is delivered to ND and SPP customers for tests carried out at
locations including sled tracks, aerial cable facilities, blast
tubes, thermal/fire science facilities, mechanical shock, drop
towers, and other Sandia owned testing capabilities in addition to
test facilities outside Sandia. We specialize in data collection
for testing that ranges from small to large scale. The Measurement
Science & Engineering department (1535) is a multi-disciplinary
group that provides cutting edge imaging and instrumentation
measurements for large and small-scale test work supporting Sandias
National Security Mission. Our work includes R&D developing
innovative quantitative imaging measurements and contact
instrumentation measurements that work in harsh conditions, field
deployment of measurement systems, data collection, and data
analysis. We collaborate with many national laboratories and
facilities, providing our customers with critical data and
information for model validation, hardware qualification, and
